Companies with the most communications with councillors
The 100 companies with the most communications recorded in the Lobbyist Registry with members of council, the mayor, or their staff, in the 2006-2010 term.
Not yet computed.
Method
- A communication is one entry in the Lobbyist Registry's communication records. Only communications with a member of council, the mayor, or a member of their staff are counted, and only when the office holder has been matched to a member's office. Communications with City staff and local boards are not counted.
- Each communication counts for the client named on the registration. When a consultant lobbies on a client's behalf, the communication counts for the client, not the consultant firm.
- Companies are organisations classed as corporations, numbered companies or partnerships, using the registry's business type or a corporate suffix in the name (Inc., Ltd., Corp.). Some companies are recorded without either and are classed as "other"; they appear under All organisations.
- Terms run from the first day of the council term to its last. Dates are the communication dates reported by lobbyists.
These counts show how often communications were recorded. They do not show what was discussed or how any member responded. Lobbyists report their own communications, and reporting practices differ between registrants.
